New Terrain

I bought the Nachmund terrain box. I liked the relatie simplicity and functional (as functional as 40K gets) nature of the buildings compared to the more Gothic city scenery.

This set has been laid out on a couple of the Moonbase Klaistus boards that the the Sector Fronteris bunker first came with.

The basic paint scheme is courtesy of Chaos Black and Army Painter Uniform Grey sprays.

Now, do I look at the upcoming Killteam Moroch box to obtain more or just look at buying the renegade Guard models separately when they're released?

A long term project, likely for the Summer holidays will be to dig out all of my terrain and decide which way to go.  Fighting in ruined cities or concentrating on the more miltaristic military structures?

The Penal Legion

Here is the revamped Schaeffer along with his helper and the convicts.  Heretics to man until the Cannon Fodder 2 box comes along with its female bits.

So far I've only made the cannon fodder convicts. For a future project zi may look at converting versions of the 3rd Edition metals using these figures.  A tray, through the bits box should allow me to come up with versions of Animal, Brains and the others.

Schaeffer Resurrected

Out from the pile of shame and, via a Dettol bath, Schaeffer is back to serve The Emperor's through a mass cull of the Penal Legions in battle to discover the hard core gang of wild eyed psychos and murderers to undertake a specific mission.

Once again, Contrast paints have been used.  Predominantly Creed Camo for the fatigues and Basilicanum Grey for armour and weapons.

Ready To Join The Original Heretics

Wargames Atlantic simple yet effective kits + Contrast paints = Completed Squad in 24 hours.

These gentlemen are now ready to be lined up with the rest of the crazies and herded towards an inglorious death.

Even better, I rediscovered the Schaeffer model I'd forgotten I had.  He may have an appointment with a Dettol bath and a repaint coming.

The penal Legion may even go up to 30 string when the female Cannon Fodder 2 box us available.

Comes The Inquisitor

And he's riding a big angry chair.

I never bothered with Kaeamazov the first time round and having found it a pain to build the resin version, I'm so glad I never wrestled with the metal original.

The model has been undercoated with leadbelcher and a further white undercoat has been  given to the Throne.

The projects are starting to build up now.

On the list in no particular order are:

Karamazov.
Battle Sisters including the big Triumph model.
Castigators.
More Cannon Fodder.
The new Nachmund terrain box.
Another Praetorian platoon.
The Bulldogs when they arrive.
The scifi Camel Corps.

Plus many, many more.

Gaunt's Ghosts or Border Rangers?

As I mentioned when I painted the Ghosts box up, it's a shame they don't have any troops to command.

Fortunately, being spoilt for choice by the sheer number of firms out there, Victoria Miniatures produces Border Rangers.  These are light infantry models with camo cloaks.  Sound familiar. Plus, there was a sale on. A further bonus, a piper model is available as a freebie with a qualifying spend.

Now I'm not much of a resin miniature/ superglue fan but they went together relatively painlessly.

I won't be buying more due to cost but at least there are some troops in the collection now to back up the characters.

I Never Had A Big Sister Growing Up

I do now.

Courtesy of McFarlane Toys and a sale at Menkind I bought an artist's proof Sister.   She has already been Grey Seer sprayed ready for Contrasting up as a Valorous Heart Sister.

At The New Home Away From Home

Working away from home can be a drag but at least my new post comes with more spacious accommodation.

As a result I've fired up my reserve paint station and transported some models up the line.

Keeping it basic to start with, I've started work on more terrain from the Imperium sub.  I painted my original ruins using Contrast when thegvwere released but this time I'm using the Imperium scheme of Corax White with a Nuln Oil wash yet to be applied.
