New weapons vs GW Praetorians



I've had a request for scale shots of the new weapons against GW's original Praetorians.

New Toys from Col Gravis

I'm fresh back from a holiday to find the goods from Col Gravis' Kickstarter waiting for me.

There was a bit of work to remove flash and some of the barrels will require hot water and some coaxing into line but nothing truly dreadful and certainly nothing to put me off buying more.

The parts were bigger than I thought they'd be.  The double autocannons are an absolute beast and have been set aside for a Hydra or Aegis conversion.  They are laid out next to one of the crewmen to give you an idea of the size.  A rough paint job has been applied to one but all in all, I'm happy with the outcome of Rob's (and mine as a pledger) first kickstarter.  Looking forward for them to be available from Curious Constructs along with the Mule transporter.  I need more carriages to go with the multitude of spare weapons I received as part of the pledge.

Now that I've finished work...it's back to work!

I'm finally home from my Government sponsored time away from home (not a prison sentence I must add)...so its time to crack on with the backlog.  I was fairly restrained with lashing out this time so I only have some Dystopian Legions Britannians to paint up plus the backlog of Victoria lamb Victorian Highlanders and some GW Praetorians.

I do love this range and with the Black Watch coming out, there's another order going in via The Trolltrader soon.  I especially like the look of the specialist with seven barrelled Nock gun (of Nelson Era and Sgt Patrick Harper fame).

Female Imperial Guard

Being a big Mordian fan (my original full IG army), I was stoked at some of the artwork in the Only War Fantasy Flight book depicting the Mordians, especially some atmospheric artwork of a female Guardsman post battle.

 Then Victoria Lamb decides to expand her range with some of these.

Looks like some extra variety will be hitting my painting table when these are finally released.

Dystopian Legions Work in Progress

I'm coming to the end of some time off and managed to put some time in (normally when the rest of the family was asleep) on painting up some of the Dystopian stuff that arrived while I was away.  

Finally got my hands on Col MacDonald and what a lovely little figure it is.  Bursting with character as he is bursting with the port that lives on the side of his steam driven armoured bathchair.  The blanket has been painted in the same tartan as my Praetorian Highlanders.

 

 Next up is the General Conveyor.  Again this is painted up as per my Praetorian armour rather than by a Dystopian paint scheme.  Although smaller than I was expecting it is a nice little resin model.  I like the idea of the fold down seats that have been sculpted onto the inside.  Think WWII Universal Carrier rather than something Warrior sized or FW Centaur rather than Chimera.

 

Finally a group shot with the basic Britannian squad.  More orders will go in while I'm away for Part 2 of the tour.  Possibly the starter set so that I can get my hands on Bertie Smethington but certainly another Conveyor and some of the Britannian artillery.

Col Gravis has been at the forefront of keeping the GW idea of Praetorian Imperial Guard alive and kicking.  He has now branched out and started producing his own bits and bobs via Curious Constructs. 

The weapons carriage can have a life outside of 40K however.  Try using it with Dystopian Legions or incorporate it into this new ruleset from Osprey publishing.

My Praetorian obsession is not being helped.  Standing accused of shamelessly wanting my money are:

Spartan Games - Col MacDonald waiting at home.  General Conveyor ordered from TrollTrader.  Also in the offing are 3 Britannia HMG teams and maybe a few 14 pounders.

Col Gravis and Curious Constructs - Nice looking anti-tank weapons coming up but mostly...the motorbikes...with Victoria Lamb's new Pith Helmet heads with goggles for the riders.

Victoria Lamb - New kilts, new arms, new heads, fusion guns and the VERA heavy weapon.  My Praetorian Highlander Sgt Harker has become an easier project!

And then there are the Bassett tankettes, Sky Hussars...........................
