Indomitus Silver Templars

It was time to start on the new Marines today, painting them up as the Primaris Chapter, the Silver Templars.

They were a new Chapter created by GW to accompany the Warhammer Conquest magazine although their scheme for the Marines across that subscription was the Ultramarines.

I've decided to go with Khorne Red for the robes on the Character and Shield Guard models.

 

Nurgle Reinforcements

As mentioned in an earlier post, I bought the Kill Team Rogue Trader box. The bad guy part of that box are the Gellerpox Infected who have the additional benefit of being Nurgle aligned. Additionally, they have their own mini Codex which allows them to be used in games of 40K

There are some truly weird models here from one of the ship's engineers having a furnace embedded in his gut to the little character waving a sword.

I'm leaning towards a Grey Seer undercoat for these and then using a mixture of Contrast grey, flesh and purple to bring their 'gifts' to life.

 

The New Crusade

I was one of those fortunate enough to pick up the first run of the Indomitus box set.

Now, long time followers know that I love the Ultramarines.  Warhammer Conquest, however, set me on a new path following the Silver Templars with a fair amount of Conquest purchases ending up as part of the new Primaris only Chapter.

In a move that may be described as heretical, I am painting up the new models as Silver Templars.  The initial two stages (black undercoat followed by Leadbelcher spray) is shown below.

Not only that but there has been further progress on the Ventrillians and Blood Pact.

Blood Pact Squad Complete

The first squad is complete with most of the work being competed through the use of Contrast paints. The exception is the Leadbelcher used on some of the detailing and the masks.

I've quite enjoyed throwing these together with a trot through my bits box.

I enjoyed it so much, I've started squad number two after the arrival of some Catachan infantry legs.

This squad has two special weapons so far as I realised I didn't build one for the first ten so there will some mix and match of the models once all ten of the second run are complete.

The flamer is one of the Les Grognard bits.

The beginnings of an Icon Bearer courtesy of a Cadian standard arm with some cutting and the gluing on of a spare staff from one of the Blackstone Fortress Renegade Psykers. The rifle is a Les Grognard weapon with the bayonet removed.

A Cheeky Little eBay Find For The Guard

I was browsing through the Imperial listings, as you do, and spotted this little 3d printed number.

As you can see, someone has come up with an alternative version for the Imperial Guard Salamander.  The model itself is five pieces and is purely for the tracks and hull.

The hull Heavy Flamer and Autocannon are from my bits box along with...

...the port and starboard Eagles...

...plus a spare Autocannon magazine and a control panel piece from one of the base kits.

I am looking at adding two crew, likely painted in the same colours as the Stormlord troops.  If I can pick up a second one, I can see them being the scouts for the Stormlord.

Another Varied Day

Today saw some extra time put into the Ventrillians with the uniform jacket and trousers comlpete on all plus a base coat of Leadbelcher on all the weapons.

Additionally, the Blackstone Fortress Negavolt Cultists were completed with a base coat of Leadbelcher spray finished off with Jokaero Roange for the jumpsuit remnants and Rakarth Flesh for the sickly look.

They were finished off with touches of Agrax Erathshade and Nuln Oil.

I've also built the Ephrael Stern model. I will likley paint her as Order of the Valorous Heart rather than the comic book correct Martyred Lady scheme.

Bad Guys And Good Guys Progress

As mentioned previously, I've been darting all over the place and hopping between paint jobs at the same time.

Today's progress was on the Blood Pact squad and jackets and trousers for the Ventrillians.
