Assassins

It's been another dive into the backlog again.

This time I've been catching up on two of the plastic assassins, to wit an Eversor and a Culexus.

I've stayed away from using black but have opted for a grey and and a blue colour scheme.

Black will be reserved for the Vindicare model that should be coming my way soon.

New Old Psykers

I've been delving through my backlog of old models picked up in various job lots over the years and spent some time working on these Rogue Trader era psykers.

Not having a lot of  Rogue Trader arms I have teamed these up with arms left over from the Les Grognards sets.

The staffs are Les Grognards standards with the stylised Napoleonic Eagle removed.

I have two more of these but don't have any more standards at present to give them staffs.  I may have to scour eBay for some bits or at least two more heavy weapon/ command frames.

Redemptionists or Preachers?

Although I'm not a Necromunda gamer, the idea of passing up on this particular gang never occurred to me. I have an inkling to use them as Preachers in my all conquering Imperial Guard.  Something to really fire up the troops to excel in their service to The Emperor...or else!

Beau Geste In Spaaaace!

If you haven't guessed by now, I have become a bit of a fan of Wargames Alantic and their Death Fields range.  It's neat how one kit with multiple head options can give such variety.

The models below are from the Les Grognards set using the gas mask version of the classic Foreign Legion desert look.

It's amazing how different they look with the alternate head and colour scheme compared to the bearskin wearing versions I made as proxy Vostroyans.

I won't be building any more of these as my Les Grognards stocks are running low and space is required for the five boxes of Bulldogs I have incoming.

If you are after relatively cheap figures for pulp or Victorian sci-fi, What If...? or 40K Imperial Guard proxies, consider WArgames Atlantic to assist in scratching the itch.

The Griffons' Crusade Grows

I must admit. I wish I'd started a Howling Griffons force earlier.

The latest additions are the new Primaris Ancient and the special edition Lieutenant from a couple of months back.

I'll have to see how they grow.  The Imperium subscription doesn't include any of the larger vehicles.  There is an Invader ATV but that will likely become part of the Silver Templars.  The Firestrike Turret will end up as a Howling Griffon though.

A Head Start On The Camels

There's been a slight bit of impatience on my part.  The Bulldogs are due sometime in May but I wanted to carry out some prep work.

Due to the rider's legs being moulded onto the camels, I wanted to test drive how they would work with other torsos.  Dry fitting a Les Grognards torso indicated that some trimming would be required otherwise the riders would end up looking out of proportion with extended torsos.  Out came the clippers and knives to conduct the necessary surgery!

Although I have glued these on, my fickle nature may see me remove them to use Bulldogs torsos but we'll see how that goes.

More Cannon Fodder

The Cannon Fodder kit is proving quite versatile due to its variety of head options.

This group is using the hazmat/ space suit style helmet.

I see this mob as being part of a Nurgle Cultists group.  Who knows what horrors the suits and helmet obtain.

Their weapons are from the Death Fields accessory sprue with the grenade launcher from the Einherjar set.

Characters Complete

Having spare time on my hands, I have been able to complete the latest additions to the Howling Griffons.

Contrast paints do save a bit of time.  So much so, I've been able to crack on with those models you can see lurking in the background.  More on those later.

Howling Griffons Reivers and Characters

Work on the new Primaris detachment continues.

The Reiver squad in the night world scheme is now complete and I think they've worked out quite well.

Any further Phobos armour Marines from Imperium will be painted up in this format.

Also on the production queue are the new Chaplaon and the Bladeguard Ancient.  These will follow the standard Marine pattern for the Griffons.

Grimdark Sci Fi Camel Corps Are A Step Closer

Proof that there is something out there for everyone and whatever you want will come along if you have patience.

A company called Shieldwolf Miniatures have a range of not-Tallarn called Imperium Desertum.  Part of that range is "Camelry".  See what they did there?

The set consists of five resin models.  The camels are shown in the next photographs.

The plan is to match these with torsos from the upcoming Death Fields Bulldogs set.  I'll have to see how well those torsos match up with the riders legs that are part of the camels. Some trimming may be required.

The riders' torsos are shown below along with the choice of either sword or lance.

Howling Griffons Reiver Trial Scheme

I mentioned in a previous post that I was looking at doing something different with the Phobos armoured Primaris that would be joining my Howling Griffons force.

Fortunately there is some background material on Howling Griffons Marines using a night world colour scheme during the Badab War.

I give you the amended colour scheme for the Reivers I bought during the last gasp Warhammer Conquest 50% off sale.

The under armour parts and joint seals are a Space Wolf grey Contrast with Contrast Black for the armour.  Shoulderpads are in a quartered Howling Griffons scheme.

Various Reinforcements

It's  been a slightly scattershot approach to army building at the moment.

Taking advantage of Hachette's 50% off clearance sale for Conquest, I am now the proud owner if six Reivers to join the Howling Griffons.   I'm going to go for the darkened camouflage scheme featured in the Badab War campaign books for something different.

Via eBay come two Ad Mech robots.  No Darasmith but I have a fair few Tech Proests kicking around and one of those can take on the handler duties.

Life will be slightly more settled over the next couple of years so standby for some Praetorian updates.  After all the CRASSUS may need some dedicated troops.
