The Christmas Production Line Pt 4

I've gone back to the Renegade Guard for this post.

As noted previously, the Renegades from Blackstone Fortress were oainted up in Blood Pact or Sons Of Sek colours.  This third bunch will receive the Sons Of Sek treatment.

Additionally, I have removed the hands from some spare arms from my bits box to glue over the models' mouths, part of the Abnett inspired charm of the Sons. I'll have to see how they look painted up with some Rakarth Flesh to look as if the hands are partially rotted.

The Christmas Production Line Pt 3

Today's update is brought to you by the 'magic' of Contrast paints.

This time, it's the remainder of the Start Collecting Nurgle set.  The Herald, Nurglings and Plague Drones have all received their coat of Plaguebearer Flesh over the Grey Seer sporay undercoat.  Additionally the wings, carapace and talons of the Drones have been painted with the Black Templar contrast paint.

After that, innards and pustules/ boils have been completed with Bugman's Glow. Horns are Karak Stone.

Any blade weapons are Caliban Green with highlights/ drybrushing to be added later with Warpstone Glow. Daemon eyes will also use this colour.

If you haven't used Contrast yet, it is something to consider especially if you are trying to complete a large army. Additionally you will have to add up whether the increased cost of the pot is worth the time saved in painting.

Next up,potentially the latest Conquest delivery that has just been received.  Only ten issues left.

The Christmas Production Line Pt 2

Despite some initial misgivings once the coat of Contrast Plaguebearer Flesh was applied, the final effect after it had dried was much more pleasing.

I added some Bugman's Glow to the poxy bits and open wounds and boom! One unit of Nurgle Daemons was complete.

Another dry day and I may be able to undercoat the Herald, Nurglings and Plague Drones.  I'm thinking of a Zandri Dust undercoat for the Drones and sticking with the Plaguebearer Flesh for the riders.

The Christmas Production Line Pt 1

Seeing as I've moved on from the backlog to some extent, the next series of posts will go back to the old Production Line title I've used in previous years.

First up is the small squad of Battle Sisters from the metal range.  I've painted these up as the Wounded Heart offshoot Order from the Valorous Heart Order.

The armour and outer robes of these have been painted in Contrast red and black paints. The inner lining of the robes is Karak Stone.

Bolters and weapons have been painted using standard black and Leadbelcher.  Other details will be picked out in gold and other colours as required.

The Plaguebearers in the background are next.

The Backlog Pt 9 - Why Does The Backlog Seem Never-ending?

Well, mainly, because I cannot stop buying new goodies.

Whilst out and about for some fresh air last week, I stopped off at Wicor Models in Portchester and, finding their discounted prices hard to resist along with the lure of a now OOP Start Collecting box, I walked out with a Daemons of Nurgle set.

I thought they would make a nice side addition to the Plague Marine army.

I also purchased a secret weapon. I though I would try some one coat only Contrast Plaguebearer Flesh paint. Lets see what results are obtained with this.

The Backlog Pt 8 - The Plague Spreads

My first full non-Star Wars watching day (I've seen The Rise Of Skywalker and unashamedly loved it) and progress is delayed due to the rain falling as if God has had a fight with a fire engine.

I have, however, been able to add paint to models that I managed to get sprayed yesterday.

First up, some more Plague Marines including the GW exclusive Plague Brethren set.  Yes, they are expensive but I've picked up a 'Gotta Catch Em All' mentality over Plague Marines recently.

Additionally, some Zandri Dust sprayed Poxwalkers.  Twenty of these with half painted up with orange work cloth remnants and the others in blue rags.

Next job is to sand base the Sisters so they can be Grey Seer undercoated and painted up with Contrast paints.

The Backlog Pt 7 - Sisters Of Battle

With massive gratitude to Rob Angell of Kirton Games, I am the proud owner of one of the Sisters army box sets.

Here they are in all of their unpainted glory with some old metals waiting a painting in the background.

These are great models, if monopose, with three repeated poses in the Battle Sisters, two repeats in the Seraphim as well as one repeat each in the Repentia and Arco Flagellants.  This is mitigated by variant heads although I have gone for the helmeted option where it exists for the Battle Sisters and Seraphim.

So, no issue if you have one of these sets and definitely not a problem with the upcoming general relesae versions.

An Order Of The Valorous Heart paint scheme awaits.

Finally, a small quad of stripped down metals. Just for variety, these will be painted up in a alternate colour scheme representing an offshoot Order from the Valorous Heart Order.

More updates once I'm actually back home again.
