40K: Bought Cadia Stands But Don't Want A Cadian Army?

As mentioned in my last post, I am thinking of using the new Cadians as a different Regiment.

I must admit, these videos from former GW painter 'Peachy' have provided some inspiration.

As I move forward, I'll be looking at some Tanith Troopers to go with the Ghosts HQ box and probably some Blood Pact.  Just need skulls!

40K: The Last Of The Ventrillian Nobles?

As per the title, this may be the last of my Ventrillian kitbashes.

Why?

Mainly because my bits box is running low on original Cadian plastics and as Age of Sigmar moves towards Free Peoples, will the old Empire Pistoliers kit finally go OOP?

I'm not going to be restarting the Ventrillians using the new Cadian plastics.  I have some ideas for those including Tanith Troopers with capes made of masking tape and beret heads from my multitude of Bulldogs boxes.

40K: Imperial Guard Big Guns

I couldn't resist it.  Despite the model seeming slightly corny to my eyes, the discount available online meant I couldn't resist it.

Biggest bugbear?  That multipart base!

I only had time to put together one of the two Rogal Dorns I bought.  It's a hefty, decent sized tank and the gap in the bottom of the hull doesnt't particularly bother me.

I may have to make one change though and go for some of the peaked cap style heads that come with the Cadian kits.  Pith helmets do seem a tad daft but that's 40K.

I'm also not a fan of the multitude of extra hull meltas and so on so I've stayed with adding the side sponsons only.

40K: More Necromunda Transport

I'll admit.  I was weak.

Due to being away, I spend less so have a little more for more expensive toys, hence the Necromunda Ironcrawler to add to my Praetorian transport pool.  Maybe this can carry the Command Squad for the Platoon in the Cargo 8 train.

Green Stuff was required for the gaps but building tbe model wasn't the nightmare I feared it could be.

40K: Praetorian Ordnance 3 - Bringing It Together

Even though it takes some doing, I was quite happy with the removal of the unneeded bits from the crew.

The crew transfer across well from their old 2nd Ed weapons.  They will be painted separately from the weapons and then glued into place afterwards.

Unfortunately, the final stages have to wait until May/ Jun time.

40K: Praetorian Ordnance 2 - The Crew

You've seen the new guns, meet the usual suspects.

Across the years, I've picked up a fair few Heavy Weapon crews without the actual Heavy Weapons, normally if I've snap bought a job lot of figures.  I find the mortar operator and lascannon aimer with his binos useful to fit in with Infantry Squads.

As such, it's no great shakes to allocate them to the Ordnance weapons.

I've never hidden the fact that I feel the mortar loaders were a bot 'comedy' with the massive shells so it doesn't bother me to hack and slash those rounds away to slide in some of the accessories from the Ordnance sprue.

The Heavy Bolter gunners will end up the Bombast seats. I've trimmed away the power pack from the loader so that he can be glued into place next to the Heavy Lascannon power pack on the model.

Next up, the completed yet unpainted first draft of the Ordnance Batteries.

40K: Praetorian Ordnance 1 - The Guns

Whilst I'm looking forward to grabbing the Rogal Dorn tanks, I will readily admit that the new kit I was most looking forward to is the new Field Ordnance models.

I received one kit as part of the Cadia Stands box and eBayed another set.  The Malleus launcher doesn't float my boat so I've gone with two Bombasts and two Heavy Lascannons.

The sandbags are from the fun Renedra kit.  I decided to go for a full emplacement style set up for the weapons.

As you can see, I haven't built any Cadian crew yet.  That's because these guns will be manned by Praetorians.

Victoria Miniatures: Halfling Snipers

Fresh from a 3d printer come the Kickstarter Halfling Snipers from Victoria Miniatures.

Of course, I updated my pledge to include the pith helmet heads that came in both male and female flavour.  The KS also included a Bambo Bullroar figure. He's a kind of halfling Rambo who I'm sure was in no way inspired by Bullroarer Took from Tolkien.

The squad itself is quite characterful with some of the snipers seemingly involved in elevenses or a second breakfast possibly.

Stylistically, the halflings seem to follow the dress uniform style of GW's 2nd Ed metal Ratlings which, in turn I feel, were inspired by the Napoleonic unofrms of the 95th Rifles.  ITV's Sharpe series was quite the rage at the time those Ratlings were released.

As such, these snipers are a dead fit to go alongside GW's Praetorians or Mordians.  The main question is do I go with a nice Red or choose a Rifles green colour?

Wargames Atlantic: Female Cannon Fodder

I was recently back home for a flying visit and made a stab at the Hobby Mountain and the next run of posts will show what I was up to.

First up was an initial ten Cannon Fodder from the latest box of female figures.  These are more generic Penal Convicts to add to the main group.  Once I'm back home, I'll look at creating Cannon Fodder based Rocket and Warrior models from the The Last Chancers metal squad.

As per the other Death Fields models, these go together well with a decent selection of  bodies and arms so a box of 24 should look sufficiently different.

This box also contains some more of the bionic arms as seen on the kneeling figure which should mix and match across the rest of the Death Fields range as well as other manufacturer's models.

I'm looking forward to May for laying some Contrast Orange on these jump suits.
