Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt14: Guest Star From A Different Franchise

The Disney 'Lightyear' film may not have had much of an impact but a possible unintended benefit is the massive price drop on Lightyear toys.

I have bought three of the Armadillos for £8.00 each but just as good is the 5inch figure scale Armadillo that went for a tenner.  Later for that beast!

I've sprayed it black and have arranged the Ghosts in front to give an idea of scale. It can easily carry ten fighters.  The larger one could potentially handle a Chimera or act as a carrier for thirty troops.

This could end up either as a transport for the Breachers should I ever get them built or for a squad of Arbitrators should they ever come back in stock!

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt13: Finished Second Ghost Squad

The Imperial Guard continue to grow.

Now Gaunt and his command coterie have two squads of troops to command even if they will follow standard IG rules rather than be 'Ghosts'.

Due to onset of old age, I realised that the first squad's missile launcher was mounted on a 50mm base rather than the 60mm one.  Oh well, I got it right this time.

Next up, Big Guns and Marines.

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt12: Trialling Griffons Scheme On Larger Models

Also courtesy of Imperium comes the Redemptor Dreadnought.

Let's see how the Contrast works on those bigger spaces and whether or not I need to switch to the standard paints.

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt11: More Ghosts Arrive By Stealth

Back to building again and it's a second squad for Ghosts prepped.

These ones use parts from the Cadian upgrade frame as well as Stargrave heads for some variety.

My favourite upgrade has to be the Lovat hat head.  Some WWII/ current Royal Marine trainee Commando vibes there.  So good a seat of headgear, it's made it 40000 years into the future!

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt9: Trial Colour Scheme Ventrillian Noble Ogryns

The Wargames Atlantic Landsknecht Ogres have much too foo-foo a uniform for me to consider lobbing them in with my Praetorians.

I do think that their fancy frills would fit in with the Ventrillian platoon I converted. Maybe they like dressing up their attached Ogryns as fancy pets!

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt8: Imperial Guard (How stuck in my ways am I?) Firepower

As a northern Wellington might have said "There's nowt wrong with big guns".

The first two pieces of Field Ordnance, both heavy lascannons, are fully painted up in their mini-diorama state and, after a late shopping trip for undercoat, is the first of the Rogal Dorns.

There is a big pot of the AK Interactive Concrete Terrain paint in the background. This is what I have started using to provide basing to my larger models.  I'm finally running low on the chinchilla saand and it is so much quicker than waiting for two layers of PVA to dry!

In keeping with a 'kind of' Victorian aesthetic, I've plumped for an Ultramarine Blue Contrast colour scheme for the Ordnance crews.

Undercoated but with no other progress, this one is waiting for some Leadbelcher to pick out some details.

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt7: Halfling Snipers

If proof was needed that a strain of pith helmeted insanity lives on in 40K then surely the existence of Kickstarted pith helmet wearing not-Ratlings is it.

Attacking The Pile Of Shame Pt6: There Is Painting Involved

Love Contrast.

Gaunt now has Ghosts to command.

I'm not sure if this squad really captures the nature of the literary Ghosts but beggars can't be choosers.

I am happy with how the masking tape cloaks turned out though.

Next up, the Victoria Miniatures Halfling snipers.
