Christmas Production Line Day 8

Rushing towards completion now...and with the weather being a bit pap today...they may even be finished by tomorrow.

Christmas Production Line Day 7

Right, that's all the flesh done.  Flesh wash to follow on those, final epaulettes for the front row to go and then it's nearly done bar final touches (ceramite white for webbing and helmets).  I'll have to find time and clear the table for a GW Praetorian XXIV group shot.  I may even have enough time to crack on with some more kilts for the Highlanders.

Christmas Production Line Day 5

The slog continues.  I say that but I do find it relaxing in between the socialising.

Christmas Production Line Day 4

I didn't get any work done yesterday but as I was awake at 0400, I was able to do some before the 0800 cut off (some epaulettes and jacket cuffs).  I'll start working on some weapons next.

Christmas Production Line Day 2

Progress continued yesterday hampered by a family visit to see The Desolation of Smaug.  Hope to get a fair amount done today in between wrapping presents and other preps for tomorrow.  Progress is from the back to the front.

The Christmas Production Line

As of 0800 23 Dec 13, the unpainted Praetorians looked like this:

I may have to do a daily update.

Sunday, 22 December 2013

New Additions to the Praetorian Clan.

That is the good thing about a spot of leave, you can catch up with some painting and posting!

Real Life Hunter Killer Inspiration

Just when you thought the second iteration of the IG Hunter Killer was a bit junky and clunky...you see this piece of Cold War hardware!

Achtung Tiger!!!

I managed to fit in a pilgrimage to the Treadhead Mecca aka Bovington Tank Museum.  All manner of armoured goodness is on display from The Great War to the present day.

I was slightly disappointed when I arrived as there was a sign up saying Tiger 131 wasn't on display as it was being worked on after being involved in filming Brad Pitt's new WWII movie "Fury".

As I was leaving, having had an enjoyable time, I was lucky enough to stumble across this event.  The film's sound team were at the museum recording Tiger 131 for dubbing the movie audio track (or whatever the technical term is).

As a result..and what a result...I was able to whip out my phone and capture Tiger 131 in motion.  This is something you normally have to pay extra for on special Tiger Days in the Museum's event schedule.

More Highlanders with unexpected Inquisitional back-up

Due to work its taken me some time to throw these together but what a delight the new resin figures from Victoria Lamb are.  Really crisp casting and a step up from the original kilted legs.

A leader can be judged on the size of his sporran!

Lurking in the background is Vic Lamb's Spanish Inquisition, because they were 20% off and I'm weak.

Weak like water when I should be strong like bull!

With the consumer resistance equivalent to the breaking strain of a soggy kitkat, the order has just gone in for some resin Victoria Lamb Highlander goodness.

Of course, mine will be getting Pith Helmets.  The armoured torsos will be good for representing Carapace Armour for some Veterans.

Dystopian Legions Eccentric Madness

Don't these just look fantastic.  Sentinel Counts As?  They are available from 11 Dec.

It may have to be a post Christmas order for these and the Black Watch.

Goff Deff Dred Stompiness

The official GW model is above...below is one I actually made using a tin of pub peanuts as the body, with spare Robogear bits for arms and legs.  Bang on some bits box stuff and square patterned plastic card and away you go!

'Ere Come Da Goffs!

Nothing says ORKS! more than Big Mobz of Boyz.  The first one shown here is the Shoota Mob.

The Nobz for my Mobz tend to be the ones from the 3rd Ed metal Nobz box.  Small conversions never hurt so this Nob has 3 magazines going into his shoota to represent a bit More Dakka!

The Mob shown below was the one I developed under 3rd Ed to be my Skarboyz.  They all utilise the short horned helmet and more pads/ armour than my standard Boyz.

Again a 3rd Ed metal Nob running the show.

Choppa grafted on from a defeated Catachan Sentinel.

Gyro stabilised monowheel.  Most fun Wargear evah!  Apart from Telescopic Legs..on an overwatching Shokk Attach Gun...hidden behind a wall.  Wasn't 2nd Ed fun?

Nothing says nailz more than fighting with a chain!

They're Nuns...with Guns!

With a mini-Codex in the offing, I thought I'd dig out the Order Of The Valorous Heart from the archives.  As son as the digital Codex in my virtual hands, I'll have to reorganise what I possess and line them all up for a group photo.

Banner Bearer converted from a Sister Superior and the original metal Blood Angels Assault veterans box set.

The Witch Hunters Codex release Canoness with Jump Pack.  I don't think she'll be able to use it under the new rules.

The Ephrael Stern limited edition mini.  I did use her as a Palatine but she may be pushed back into the Seraphim ranks now.

Forge World Repressor

Standard Rhino with Forge World parts

The Exorcist

You can't promise me a pith-helmetted Dwarf/ Scrunt/ Squat and not deliver.......

Ladies and Gentlemen,

to my absolute delight Bob Olley is promising a Kickstarter that may see my existing Squats being added to my Praetorian army.

I originally saw the announcement on Dakka Dakka:

So many companies producing so many delightful things.

Meeting Grunt!

Meet the Blood Axe Warboss...Grunt Mitchkull.  The original version of Grunt was the Ogryn conversion but once Black Reach came out, the Warboss from that set was rejigged.  Once again, a green stuff beret with an added badge left over from the shako of an Airfix 54mm British Infantry model.

Shown below are the Tankbustas Mob.  Again using the versatility of the basic Boyz model, rockets were added to the shoota.  These rockets heads came from cutting up various weapons from the old Robogear sets.

A Squig Too Far!

As fun as the 2nd Ed and 3rd Ed Hybrid Stormboyz were, the latest versions are a cut above.  I painted these up as Red Devils.  I may see about magnetizing the packs and see if I can sling them under the Bomber's wings!  Deep Strike!
