Painting Progress? You Must Be Joking....

Hobby time?

Not when there's sunshine and real things to see and do.

Yesterday I treated mysef to a little jaunt to Pendennis Castle, Falmouth all tied in with a small coastal walk.  I love the South West.

The disappearing gun.  Look them up and if you ever get the chance, see the working Montcrieff type at Crownhill Fort, Plymouth.  It used to be blank fired annually by volunteers from the Royal Armouries' Fort Nelson team.  Basically, the gun is loaded and prepped under cover, levered into position for firing and the recoil brings it back in to cover again.

The Half Moon battery.

What To Do With This?

The 'This' in question is an old Timpo 1/32 scale Universal Carrier negative crew models.

It is made of plastic and should be ideal for converting.  But to what?

Imperial Guard are an obvious choice but I'm also tempted to see how I can Orkify it.  What better transport for a small mob of Blood Axe Orks?

With so many other bits and bobs on the go, this will probably sit quite happily in the bits box until the new Ork Codex comes out.  I already have a small mob built using Kromlek lovat hat bits.  They may now have a transport.

Jumping Between Projects

Next up on the slate, just for the variety, Mk IV Heresy Ultramarines and some 40K special edition miniatures. These are the plastic Terminator Captain and Chaplain models.  These are available on the occasion of a Games Workshop store taking on the "Warhammer" branding.

To Avoid Knight Fatigue...

Before getting stuck into the next two Knights, it's time to get back into the Primaris Ultramarines.

These are all the starter set or snap fit Marines.  I'm shy of the prices for the multi build versions.  Here's hoping that the Warhammer 40K Conquest magazine that was trialled receives a proper launch so I can slowly expand the army (http://www.warhammer40000conquest.com/).  Apparently the trial run issue 4 previewed a single Marine figure (Lieutenant or Sergeant?)  for issue 5 that has not been seen in stores yet.

Not yet undercoated are the anniversary Sergeant and the store birthday Captain.

"Running away are you?"

The Anvil Industries special event Beefeater.  Look out for Anvil.  They have jusy launched a range of bionics for upgrading 28mm miniatures (http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Regiments-Bionic-Parts).

Tommorow I'll be working on some Horus Heresy Ultramarines and commencing an additional side project of some Heresy era  Night Lords.

Two More To Go

With the Castellan finished, it's time for a group shot.

The new Castellan lines up with the Boss, the Baron, marked out by the broad stripe on the carapace armour.

Behind the Baron is his number two, again marked out by the striping on the carapace.  The two new Knights (at present they are still on the sprues) will have a plain black carapace to mark them out as the 'rank and file' Knights.

The four Armigers from the Forgebane boxes.  Although tempted, I'm not too sure if I want to invest in a box of the autocannon armed Helverin.

As mentioned previously, two Knights to go but I'm thinking of heading back to some Primaris or Heresy Ultramarines for the next couple of days.

More updates to follow.

But Who Keeps The Knights Walking?

Placing the Knights to one side for the moment, I've branched out to start work on Belisarius Cawl and a Tech Priest.

Although House Mortan is Imperial aligned, they'll still need assistance from the Mars Tech Adepts to stay in the fight.  Additionally, these two will be slotted in to my small Skitarii detachment.

Castellan Paint Job Commences

The newest addition to House Mortan is coming along nicely.  Two more Knights to build.  Once done, this one should look good alongside the other Knights and Warglaives.

Castellan Prepped and Ready For Paint

Courtesy of black and Leadbelcher sprays, I'm ready to begin painting the new addition to my Knights.

I've also thrown together  Sacristan Forgeshrine from my bits box.

Castellan Constructed

The beauty of having time off while everyone else is working/ at college. *

The Castellan has been constructed and what an absolute beast it is.  I'm sure it was simpler to construct than the original Knight models.

The painting begins tomorrow.

I'm expanding the Imperial Guard is well courtesy of an eBay purchased Deathstrike.

* Plus the Long Haired Admiral isn't around when this gets delivered to the door.
