War In New Scale...For Me Anyway

Epic largely passed me by but I've often been tempted by the idea of recreating my Praetorians in small scale.

A couple of times I've looked at the Bacchus website and considered buying some of their Zulu War British metal range.

Scanning through Patreon one day I noticed designs from Wakes Emporium of a range of 6mm Britannicans. Unfortunately only the files were available via Patreon so I had to forgo the pleasure.

Fortunately I have since been saved by Etsy UK.  Some sellers there have purchased the licences for the models and sell printed products.  Hence, I now have some 6mm Praetorians.

The range is quite characterful as well with plenty if variety amongst the foot troops with dufferent Guardsmen, Sergeants, Comms troopers and Officers amongst the designs.

Below is a 55 strong Platoon.

There are even Rough Riders.

Variant Lascannon, Autocannon and Heavy Bolter teams are available including a horse drawn weapon.

Steampunk styled APCs.

Steampunk Leman Russ?  Having scanned around,  actual Leman Russ and Baneblades are available so there may be some other purchases in the future.

One of my favourite pieces is the HQ diorama with plenty of Big Cheeses ruminating over a map table.

Necromunda Ridgehauler

Another fine kit although my plan is to build it as an Imperial Guard mass troop transport as I don't play Necromunda.

I have opted for the heavy stubber mount in the cab although a grenade launcher is also available.

As I intend to use this as the transport for a non-mechanised Praetorian platoon,  I've decided to uparmour the containers with Taurix turrets rather than plain cupola.

At present I have four spare turrets.   Another has the twin autocannons but I can potentially add the small cannon or twin gatling gun versions as well. I'll see how that goes as I purchase trailers in slow time.

Slow Progress

Logistical problems slowed me down this weekend.  I ran out of gel super glue so was unable to keep going with the building of the land train.

It really is a decent kit and was a great price from the Kickstarter. The armoured carriage definitely belongs at the back though.

My plan is to source some GW cupola and weapon mounts for the roofs although some were supplied with the carriages.

Alternate Necromunda Cargo Hauler

Fresh from the Watcorps Designs Kickstarter come my physical copies of a cargo hauler and trailers.

The cab is nice and chunky and consists of around 10 parts which go together quite easily.

The interior of the cab is detailed up to act as a workspace and living area with a separate bunk to glue in.  I'm going to leave the bunk out as I have different plans for the interior.

The kit includes what should have been four but I've ended up with five trailers.  The one shown below initially came as part of the Watcore Gothic Train and is an armoured gun carriage.  Watcorp have designed the trailer chassis to be able to work with older kits such as the train.

One of the cargo trailers is shown below.  Now, I did cock up here by selecting the cargo carriages rather than the cargo containers option.  I think the option I have chosen utilises old train carriages rather than the new shipping container option.  Can't complain though   the whole kit is less than GW's Ridgehauler cab by itself.

Each of the cargo trailers comes with weapon cupola options.

More on my plans for this kit and the sole GW Cargo 8 I intend to buy later.

Traitor Guard 2

Seeing as the new Renegade box comes with quite a few options,  I've opted to use some of them to convert more Traitors as shown below.

Spare heads have been used along with the left over flamer and grenade launcher on Necromunda Hive Scum figures.  They are armed with autoguns for some uniformity.

Traitor Guard 1

Fresh from the Kill Team box come the new Renegades.

These one are in the same style as the Blackstone Fortress Renegades and, in my opinion  are better than those.

I've converted the corrupted Commmissar though to make him more of a generic Officer/ Champion.

Old School Bunkers

Don't you just love it when you find another little geek/ hobby shop to investigate especially when you're drawn to a pile of White Dwarf issues.

Three for a fiver sees me as the new owner of a 169 ( with bunker pages included) and two Rogue Trader era issues with Squat background and 40K Soartan templates for converting the original Land Raider.

Couldn't resist it.  The Bunker was built straight away.
