Chocks Away!

I quite like the Ork jet model.  I picked up two.  The first was given an RAF style camo job for the Blood Axes.  The base will finally include a Spotta model, calling in the airstrike for the Boyz.

 

Kommando Jungle Fighters

These Boyz were made as a Loota squad from an older version Codex where the Squad could be armed as an IG, Space marine or Scout Squad.  These were Blood Axe Scouts, hence the Imperial missile launcher and sniper rifles.  The bush hats were green stuffed.

Kommandos

Back before GW rejigged the Kommando models, I knocked up my own Bloodaxe ones.  I still have some of the 2nd Ed Kommando models but with the introduction of the new plastics for 3rd Ed they didn't really match up.  Again I went for a unified look so used the non-horned helmet heads for these boyz and avoided using them elsewhere in my army.  With all of the models in an Ork army being based on the same figures, this would allow opponents to avoid confusion over which mob was which.

Again, a more human militaristic look aided by use of Cadian backpacks.

 
I used the old Gorkamorka AK type shootas for this mob.

 
The first converted Kommando mob that I made.  These Boys used the top half of the plastic IG Stormtrooper backpacks.  Blades were added to the sluggas to make them stand out from standard Ork Mobs.

Waagh Bloodaxe!!

I haven't paid enough attention to these boys for a while so I thought I'd give them an airing.  I had a second edition 40K army but wasn't really inspired by Orks until the plastics came out with the third edition.

My Ork army falls into two camps...Bloodaxes and Goffs.  I'll start adding the Bloodaxes to the blog first.

Pictured above is one of my Boyz squads.  The berets were added using greenstuff and the backpacks were from IG heavy squads.  I wanted to capture the whole Bloodaxe using human tactics and rig trait of the clan.

 The Bloodaxe Nob.  Originally constructed for Gorkamorka once the harder Orks are bigger mechanic.  He has a Gorkamorka Nob head on an Ogryn body.  He tended to be my Warboss until they actually brought out Warboss figures.  The grot with big shoota was used to represent More Dakka.

The Nob has a greenstuffed (amateurishly) backpack and a tankbusta bomb made from a Saurus shield.

The Mobs Trukk.  I added a spare Gorkamorka Trukk platform to the top and mounted the Trukk's gunner on it.

Dystopian Legions Interlude

The paint work continues.  Here is the armoured might of the Britannians.  Soon to be joined by a Terrier, which looks like a massive monster of a tank!

New Toys from Col Gravis

I'm fresh back from a holiday to find the goods from Col Gravis' Kickstarter waiting for me.

There was a bit of work to remove flash and some of the barrels will require hot water and some coaxing into line but nothing truly dreadful and certainly nothing to put me off buying more.

The parts were bigger than I thought they'd be.  The double autocannons are an absolute beast and have been set aside for a Hydra or Aegis conversion.  They are laid out next to one of the crewmen to give you an idea of the size.  A rough paint job has been applied to one but all in all, I'm happy with the outcome of Rob's (and mine as a pledger) first kickstarter.  Looking forward for them to be available from Curious Constructs along with the Mule transporter.  I need more carriages to go with the multitude of spare weapons I received as part of the pledge.
