Rausenburg Siege Corps Reinforcements

Say hello to my new recruits!

First of we have the Tannenberg colonel that has been sitting in the waiting room for a while.  She was going to be the boss of some of Victoria Miniatures not-Mordian Tannenberg line however she will now be in charge of the Sledgehammer BFG battery when they turn up.

Providing support will be the first squad of a planned platoon that will act as the defence force for the battery.

Now, what colours to go for?

What To Do With Some Time Off?

I'm slowly building up to attacking some projects for the festive period but shown below are some ongoing items.

Two squads of MkIII Marines are now built and awaiting the Forge World Ultramarine shoulder pads before being sprayed.

The latest limited Forge World model waiting some undercoating.

New eBay purchases.  Show at the back though are my first blatant recasts.  These ones are where some enterprising fellow  has amended the Grenade Launcher model to toting a Plasmagun instead.

Please note that I, in no way advocate recasting.  If the Praetorians were still in production by GW I would not have purchased these but, as it stands, I must admit that they did have a certain amount of novelty value to me..

A Victoria Miniatures Captain Caine model that came free with Rausenburg Seige Corps order.  AS he was resin (and Free) I trimmed his hair and head so that the pith helmet could be worn.

A Made To Order Solar Macharius.

Tonight I'll be putting the female Seige Corps together and tomorrow, weather dependant, I'll be undercoat spraying the Plasma Obliterator I recently picked up.

Plastic Sisters of Battle

Well, there you go.

Any hope of slowing down hobby spending blown out of the water in one leak!

Sci Fi Cyber Camels?

Following some good natured ribbing on DakkaDakka after Bad Robot Minis announced a Desert themed range of sci-fi humans, the company produced the following.

All because someone jokingly asked for cyber camels.

Of course if they did produce such a beast, my Rough Rider counts as sci-fi Sudan campaign Camel Corps to add to the Praetorians would have to happen.

Another Productive Week

The Praetorians have been pushed to the back of the queue and it's been a Horus Heresy push instead.

The Custodes are wonderful models.

Still some tidying up to do, but I'm quite happy with my Breachers.

I may look at the bits market and see if I can pick up some more shields and fancy helmets to try and put together another five as Ultramarines Suzerain.  I'm too tight for the FW £60 versions!

Kitbash Breachers Complete

As per my last post and having some time available, I finished off the five Breachers and then got to work on the rest of the Prospero stuff.

I should be able to get these undercoated before returning to work tonight so I'll have more to add to my week day painting queue.

I used the most Mk III looking of the shoulder pads from the plastic Ultramarine upgrade sprue for the Breachers but the others will have to wait for a Forge World shoulder pad order to go in.

Playing With The Prospero Box Contents

I haven't had a lot of time to tackle the box but I've toyed with the idea of using the Custodes shields and mixing and matching with the Mk III armour.

Ta-da....Ultramarine Breachers.

Only the one built so far, but I think I'll knock up a squad of 5 for something different.

The idea sparked when I thought that, with a bit of smart painting, the centrepiece of the shield could be made to look the the UM's Ultra symbol.  We'll see how that goes.

And if you weren't aware, the Custodes are huge!

A Fair Amount On The Go...

Fair to say, it's a toppers paint station at the mo.

Final touches required for the last batch of Genestealer Cult.

Slow progress on the latest Praetorian platoon but definitely getting there.

But, aaaaaah, more to go....

...along with another six mortar crews.

It Certainly Appears To Be A New Era for GW PR!

Not only does the amusing Regimental Standard blog poke fun at 40K's background, they're now lampooning the real world

CLOWNS!!!!

I FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL....and some other stuff!

You may remember but I recently blogged my 2nd Ed terrain collection such as the Firebase and Imperial Guard Command Tower.  I also mentioned the Ork Stronghold was rarer than Ricking horse poo.  Well, whilst marooned and unable to get home this weekend I conducted a cycling tour of Pompey game/ hobby shops where I found this.

After showing consumer resistance akin to the breaking strain of a soggy digestive, it was mine.

I also found some Wargames Factory Shock Troops so these are being knocked together as some additional Cultists with leftovers from the Neophyte kits.

Good Times.

Genestealer Cult Progress

Most of the Neophyte painting is underway.  I've quite enjoyed working on these.

These models were undercoated black and then sprayed with a Bolt Action German Field Grey.  I've decided to leave the torso 'armour' and all the pad pieces in this colour.

The first Goliath has been built as the troop version.  I'm tempted to use the Rockgrinder parts on a 2nd hand Basilisk hull to get the most out of the box.  I may even pick up another one this weekend. Plus, mount the crew on bases and you get an extra three Neophytes to pad out the boxes.
