What Am I Taking To Work?

You know, as you get older, you fear what form your midlife crisis will take.

Fortunately, rather than getting into motorcycling and an earring, I have rebelliously decided to take some models and paints with me on my work induced travels.

Blows your hair off doesn't it?

To that end, the built up Plague Guard troops have been sprayed green with Zandri Dust for the Plaguecaster..

The Cultists have been undercoated with either Death Guard Green, Mournfang Brown or Zandri Dust. Hopefully that will avoid me falling into a trap of making them too uniform.

Vanguard Reinforcements

Prompted be the release of the new Marine Codex and the cost of the individual character figures, it was off to my nearest non GW store to pick up a discounted copy of Shadowspear that has been tempting me recently.

The Chaos side and the autocannon toting Astartes remain on the sprue for now but I have liberated and built up the rest.

Top examples of what can be done with plastic nowadays.

Vanguard Marines Sergeant and their own version of an Apothecary, the Helix Adept on the left of this shot.

The two handed pistol packer is a nice model as well.

All in all, a good purchase and as I'm more interested in painting models that optimum gaming builds, I'm relieved of the temptation to pick up what would likely be an overpriced box of the snipers and Vanguard Marines.

The Rising Cult

Seeing as Cultists are in the Death Guard Codex, it's no surprise to see them represented in Warhammer Conquest.

I bought an extra issue of these as well to give me a round twenty and , again, some chopping and bits box diving has allowed me some small variety as well as a flamer equipped model.

Again, highly unlikely these will see paint prior to mid December.

Some new Primaris purchases to show off next.

More Variety For The Death Guard

Having picked up multiple Conquests especially some of the more recent issues with Death Guard, I've purchased some more torso and backpack bits to kitbash up some more Plague Marines.  Having had a few of the easy build versions that were converted, I've had a couple of Blight launchers unused and seeing how some of the squads are special weapons light, I've placed these with the new torsos.

Unfortunately, that real life stuff is getting in the way and it is unlikely these will see paint until late December.

Plague Marines Muster

As it's back to work soon, I thought it would be an ideal time to take stock of the Death Guard army I've collected, primarily via Warhammer:Conquest, so far.

The collection gives you a choice of Lords with Lord Felthius ( and his cohort) plus the Lord from the Dark Imperium box.

The majority of the Death Guard characters/ heroes are present starting with the Noxious Blightbringer.

I think the only hero left is the Tallyman with Typhus as the main character to arrive soon.

Below are the Death Guard Terminators that are the only main purchase I have made additional to the subscription.

A five strong squad made up of two units of Felthius' cohort. The second Plaguespitter model is held in reserve.

As mentioned in previous posts, the majority of Plague Marines I have so far have been the easy build trio or the single pose Dark Imperium models.

I have made some bits purchases and taken the modelling knife to a fair few of the models to try and add spme variety. You can see examples of this over the next couple pf photographs.

The alternate colour scheme unit along with their Bloat Drone.

Due to the £7.99 price tag, I've acquired a decent sized armoured section with three Blight Haulers, four Bloat Drones and two Plague Bursters with a third on the way from Forbidden Planet.
