More Plague Marines

I was fortunate to have been led to a contact in Japan who was able to secure me a set of the Death Guard Space Marine Heroes when they were released over there.  I thought they were a great set of models.

To that end, I was quite happy to jump in with another set once the UK release came along.  This time, they will be painted up in the alternate Xandri Dust scheme that I used with some of the earlier Death Guard.

Rampart Terrain Wolverine Tank

One of my previous posts detailed the various kits I picked up from the Rampart Terrain Kickstarter.

The main kit of interest is the Wolverine tank, actually a battle tank come APC, from the Starcide range.

The Wolverine is a hefty bit of kit and the parts are spread across five frames.

I found it to be a bit of a pain to put together.  Some elastic bands and patience to hold parts together during the build will be required especially if one wants to have a couple of these in the future.

As it stands, this will likely be the only one I ever have and, after the Mechanicus Grey undercoat, will be painted in a lovely Khorne Red to be an alternative Leman Russ to support my Blood Pact squads.

The Lord Solar has jumped in to provide some scale.

Wargames Atlantic Part 4

That's all of the Spiders built up.
Time to apply some undercoat, (Grey Seer) and reach for the Contrast paints to keep things simple and quick.
I'm not planning on one colour scheme for these.  Two trial schemes have already been done but I am leaning towards including stripes or spots to others as I move ahead.

If you're more of a fantasy wargames, a future Wargames Atlantic Goblin set will include saddles and bits for Spider Riders.

Wargames Atlantic Part 3

The Einherjar.

Pint sized portions of sci fi Viking fury for Death Fields (when and if it becomes a games system) or not-Squats for 40K.

To tell you the truth, I've built 21 of the 24 in the box and I can't say that I'm all that enthused by this particular offering from Wargames Atlantic.

They are nice enough models but I'm not feeling the love for them.

I've built them as 5 man squads with the squad leader/ sergeant built with one of the axes and a shield to mark them out but that's as far as I've gone with any inspiration for these.

Maybe I'll be happier once they are painted.

Wargames Atlantic Part 2

Following on from the kitbashed Krieg, I was home this weekend to find the latest advance order of WA goodness had arrived.

I mentioned in the previous post that they were producing miniatures across a wide range of genres.

Fitting in with both their Fantasy and Death Fields range are the Giant Spiders.

For the sci fi side, the spiders can be armed with various weapons as well as having a bionic limb or two and face masks.

The sprues also come with a bound human and, for the fantasy side, what looks like a hobbit/ halfling victim.  You can tell by the big feet sticking out the bottom of the silk.

Also for Death Fields are the Einherjar.

In a twist, these abducted Vikings have been kept on a high gravity world by their alien captors and are now slightly smaller in stature.

Can anyone say Space Viking Dwarves or shorten it down to Squats?

These are better than my kitbashed Khardron Overlords with Squat weapons as they are just shorter humans with the correct proportions.  Like Kylie!

I've included a comparison photo with a GW Imperial Guard figure and a Primaris Marine.

Wargames Atlantic Part 1

If you're a regular follower of my blog, you'll know that I'm a fan of Wargames Atlantic and the products they are pushing out.

Their company brain storming sessions must be fun as their current ranges vary from Fantasy through various historical ranges and end up in sci fi territory.

As the new lockdown started, I went along to a local shop to provide some financial support and ended up with a box of WA's WWI Germans.

This box is the first of their WWI range and will be followed up with French (including Senegalese soldier heads).

One of the best things about WA kits is the variety of heads they include.  In the German box, there is a mixture of pickelhaubes, later war helmets (with and without gas masks) and caps.

My Germans will have the standard helmets so what could I do with 30 gas mask helmets?

How about kitbashing those heads with left over sci fi French Les Grognard bits?

Ta Da!!!

Some plastic Not-Death Korps Of Krieg.  Now with only 30 helmets, I may only got for two squads with a Command squad but I may also look at kitbashing up a Krieg Quartermaster as a side project.

....And Now For Something Completely Different!

Arriving at sometime in the future is a Masters Of The Universe boardgame.

As a taster, Archon have mounted versions of He-Man and Skeletor.  He-Man has arrived and Skeletor is on advance order and may arrive sometime this week.

I know, I should know better but.....

I Actually Managed To Paint Something!

A weekend at home and some good weather allowed the sprays to be broken out.

Time to work on the Primaris reinforcements to add some more punch to the Silver Templars.

Relatively late to the show is Lt Amulius (or whatever his Templars name will be).
