PAW 2014 - What Did I Buy This Weekend?

The annual  Plymouth Association of Wargamers show took place this weekend.  I'm not one for a lot of splashing out in one go, preferring to spread my purchases over time so that I don't build up too big a backlog of unpainted/ unbuilt goodies however I did bag some bargains this weekend, courtesy of Curious Constructs/ Kirton Games.

Behold the Iron Horse Bike Squadron and a two bags of cast-offs from the Victorian Sci Fi Heavy Weapon Kickstarter from last year.

The bikes look really crisp and ready to be put together with little work.  They will of course end up with the obligatory pith helmet head swap.

The bags of the miscasts may take some work but, along with some left over 40K wheels, I should be able to knock together another 8-9 Heavy Weapons backed up with two mule transports.

A selection of the kits is shown below:

  1. Pith helmets on motorbikes ? Shirley side hats. Or busbies. Or turbans.

    1. I know, I need to let the pith helmets go...but I can't!!

Victoria Lamb does a new pith helmet set where they come with goggles. Ideal for some scout bikers.

  3. Pith Bikers.... I guess you will have to try it and see if it works.
Once I put pith helmeted Praetorians on to Imperial Army era jet bikes. It looked OK because the bikes were scifi. The problem you may have is that these bikes feel more 1940's to current and pith helmets are more 19th century. It could work but you may be mixing themes a bit.
Anyway, let us know how it goes!!

  4. What the frack?!

Wish I'd know you were there! I only made a fleeting appearance, but it would've been nice to have met up!

    Drat and double-drat.

Also (although I'm not really in the 'buying 40K' market at the moment) how did I miss those miscasts?! God call, mate.

    Next year maybe..?

    1. Vic Lamb Miniatures are also working on a set of heavy weapons now that could fill that void for you.
