Playing With The Prospero Box Contents

I haven't had a lot of time to tackle the box but I've toyed with the idea of using the Custodes shields and mixing and matching with the Mk III armour.

Ta-da....Ultramarine Breachers.

Only the one built so far, but I think I'll knock up a squad of 5 for something different.

The idea sparked when I thought that, with a bit of smart painting, the centrepiece of the shield could be made to look the the UM's Ultra symbol.  We'll see how that goes.

And if you weren't aware, the Custodes are huge!

A Fair Amount On The Go...

Fair to say, it's a toppers paint station at the mo.

Final touches required for the last batch of Genestealer Cult.

Slow progress on the latest Praetorian platoon but definitely getting there.

But, aaaaaah, more to go....

...along with another six mortar crews.

It Certainly Appears To Be A New Era for GW PR!

Not only does the amusing Regimental Standard blog poke fun at 40K's background, they're now lampooning the real world

CLOWNS!!!!

I FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL....and some other stuff!

You may remember but I recently blogged my 2nd Ed terrain collection such as the Firebase and Imperial Guard Command Tower.  I also mentioned the Ork Stronghold was rarer than Ricking horse poo.  Well, whilst marooned and unable to get home this weekend I conducted a cycling tour of Pompey game/ hobby shops where I found this.

After showing consumer resistance akin to the breaking strain of a soggy digestive, it was mine.

I also found some Wargames Factory Shock Troops so these are being knocked together as some additional Cultists with leftovers from the Neophyte kits.

Good Times.

Genestealer Cult Progress

Most of the Neophyte painting is underway.  I've quite enjoyed working on these.

These models were undercoated black and then sprayed with a Bolt Action German Field Grey.  I've decided to leave the torso 'armour' and all the pad pieces in this colour.

The first Goliath has been built as the troop version.  I'm tempted to use the Rockgrinder parts on a 2nd hand Basilisk hull to get the most out of the box.  I may even pick up another one this weekend. Plus, mount the crew on bases and you get an extra three Neophytes to pad out the boxes.

Victoria's Definitely After My Money....

Temptation.  It's a BAD THING that must be resisted.

Fine in  theory but Victoria Miniatures do produce such fine toys!!

From Victoria Lamb's workbench we have female Victorian Guard...or female not-Praetorians in old money.

Now when these heads become available, there could be a swap coming for the crews that come with the Reaper BFGs.

I now foresee how I can include the female figures.  They form the BFG Battery's organic protection force.  A nice old school blue artillery uniform coming up.

The Cult Emerges

It's been a busy week putting together the two boxes of Neophytes I picked up at the weekend.  They should keep me going over the next couple of weeks until I get home again.

By adding and mixing them to the Overkill Cultists, I have 4 squads on the go and as I plan to buy a couple of Goliaths, there will be another six neophytes to add to the foot troops.  Once they are completed, I'll muster the spare parts and see what I can knock up from the bits box parts I highlighted a couple of posts ago.

Kickstarter Projects Nearing Delivery

Excitement grows as the KS completion dates seem to be drawing near.

First up, another photo of the Tunneler from Mantic.

New quandry:

Transport for Imperial Guard or Genestealer Cultists (Goliath stand in)?

Then, finally, Reaper have released photos of the BFG and crew as designed by Victoria Miniatures.

I have three on order.

The problem is that I have no way of intercepting these before CINGNAGHOME finds them due to working away Mon - Fri.  The odds are against me keeping them hidden.

First World problems eh?

I believe the materials are different from what I am used to.  The figures appear to a one piece plastic and the BFG itself will require superglue.  I understand the plastic is more like LEGO blocks than the usual GW style plastic.
