Kickstarter Projects Within Sniffing Distance

It has been a week for good news as regards the Kickstarters I have backed.

First of all, the Reaper/ Victoria Miniatures Sledgehammers (or BFGs) should be crossing the Atlantic right now to a UK distribution hub.

Therefore:

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Additionally, Mantic are close to approving the design of the Tunnelers for my alternate Praetorian Armoured Fist platoon.  Test shots of a plastic model are shown below:

The race is on.  I need to have these in hand and done by the end of Summer.  After that, no hobby time for quite a while!!

Stompa Camo

Following the purchase from the show last week, I picked up some Army Painter sprays...and pound shop Blu Tac... in town this morning before having fun this afternoon.

I tend to go for more of a toned down 'realistic' camo for my Blood Axes.  This one is courtesy of Army Green and Desert Yellow.

Next week, when I remember to bring my paints home, I'll work on the head gear and some other details.

When You Get A Tax Rebate Before A Wargames Show...Part 2

A Stompa for £40.  That was bought and placed in the back of a car within 10 minutes of getting in the venue.

It's not perfect.  The original owner has left a fair few gaps that will need filling but the box came with most of the parts still on their sprues.

The one addition I have made however is the presence of a large lump of green stuff on the head for a beret.  The Stompa will be providing heavy support for my Blood Axe boys.  I've used the Blood Axe symbol from the Nobs kit to add a beret badge.

I think to save time, this one will be painted with sprays and the use of large amounts of blue tac for a camouflage pattern.

Busy times!!

When You Get A Tax Rebate Before A Wargames Show...Part 1

Hey, it's like free money!!

First of, there were two boxes of Kharadron Arkanauts crying to be bought.

We have a Command Squad...

...with Officer and Plasma Gunner.

A Medic.

A Platoon Standard Bearer (using old Imperial Guard Orderly bits).

The second squad to make up the Platoon.

This Squad's missile launcher uses a spare Sentinel missile launcher (at least I think that's where the bit comes from).

The first Squad I built waiting some undercoat.

Returning To My One True Love...The Imperial Guard.

After a short dalliance with other projects, it's back to painting the Redcoat masses.  First of all I have to finish the smaller details and helmets on this platoon, then it's on to the mortar squads.

Of course, we have to see what happens to the Guard with 8th Ed rules but, if it takes 500 bolters to bring down a Gorkanaut ( https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/05/08/17794gw-homepage-post-4/ ), can I fit enough lasguns on aboard to do the same?

At least it loks like a slight reversion to 2nd Ed rules is going to happen.  Those lascannons inside a squad can now go after a different target from the main troopers.
